Mission and History/Organization Description:
TheaterMoves has been providing Arts Education services to the Tri-state area since 1989. Their nationally recognized curriculum “The Art of Collaboration” helps students build self-discipline and teamwork, teaches them to write more effectively and establishes a collaborative spirit in the classroom. As official Theater Facilitators for the NYCDOE, their programs are congruent with the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Theater and provide an alternate pathway for students to practice the anchor standards for writing, specifically the ELA Common Core Capacities.

How do theater activities enhance literacy? How does creating work in movement theater lead to attainment of higher level thinking skills? Nationally acclaimed movement artists Paul Rajeckas and Neil Intraub address these and other questions.
TheatreMoves provides a scaffolded curriculum based on age-appropriate acting, playmaking and directing benchmarks derived from the New York City Department of Education Blueprint for Learning, Students of all ages learn to work together physically and collaboratively as they create, write, analyze and interpret stories through ensemble stage performance. The “big picture” is a deeper understanding of Concentration, Cooperation and Commitment as it relates to their work in the classroom and success in life.

Rajeckas & Intraub bring "Imagination in Motion" to your school auditorium. In this informal setting, the artists demystify the creative process by illustrating that the skills necessary to create their dynamic performance are the same skills students utilize in learning situations - i.e.: concentration, cooperation and commitment (3Cs). Physicalizing the 3Cs allows the students to 'see' these life skills in a new, exciting way.
